In English and Italian: After the last firmware update of Xiaomi Mi Box S, I have discovered another issue (it seems that Xiaomi cannot make updates without creating inconveniences), this time they have disabled write permissions on USB hard disks which are formatted in NTFS, FAT32 is ok. The simple solution for people with some tech skills, is to format the external HDD in exFAT, using a computer with Windows 10, or a free utility like MiniTool Partition Wizard for those who still have windows 7. You could also format in FAT32, but you will face the 4GB file size limit that will prevent you from copying/saving any file larger than 4GB. That said, the other solution for those who cannot use a computer, is to let the Mi Box do the job. First, connect the USB HDD to the box, go to settings, storage, select the drive you want to format (please note that if there is any data on it, it will be deleted, so make a back up before if needed) and select erase and format as device storage. After, you will be prompted to move data to it, don't do it and select to move later instead. Now, find this HDD in the list (somewhere on the top), and select to erase and format as removable storage. When this is done, you will be able to use it as it was before, with read/write access, the only difference is that it is now formatted in FAT32, meaning that this disk will have the 4GB file size limit. Dopo l'ultimo aggiornamento della Mi Box S ho avuto l'ennesima brutta sorpresa (sembra che Xiaomi non riesca ad aggiornare senza creare problemi), ovvero non c'è più l'accesso in scrittura ai dischi in NTFS (il formato nativo di Windows NT e successivi). Questo mi ha creato non pochi problemi, dovendo usare la memoria della Mi Box per salvare i file, il che comporta anche una perdita delle funzionalità multitasking durante il download o la scrittura dei file, poiché la Mi non riesce a gestire adeguatamente questo processo mentre un'altra applicazione è attiva. Un esempio, il download o la scrittura di un file mentre si guarda un video su YouTube diventa impossibile. La soluzione semplice a ciò, per coloro che hanno un computer e lo sanno usare bene, sarebbe di formattare il disco in formato exFAT con il pc, il che è supportato nativamente su Windows 10, mentre vi sarà bisogno di un programma gratuito come MiniTool Partition Wizard con Windows 7. Altrimenti si può formattare in FAT32, però si avrà il limite di dimensione dei singoli file di 4GB. Chi invece non può usare un pc, potrà utilizzare la Mi Box, si dovrà collegare il disco alla box, andare in preferenze, spazio archiviazione, selezionare il disco in questione (attenzione che tutti i dati contenuti saranno cancellati, fate il backup prima se necessario) click sopra l'unità e selezionare resetta e formatta come memoria dispositivo, una volta fatto, scegliete di non spostare i dati su di esso, poi cercate il disco nella lista (sarà in alto), fate click su di esso e selezionate resetta e formatta come archivio. Una volta terminato, il disco sarà disponibile ed accessibile in lettura e scrittura, attenzione però che sarà in formato FAT32, con il limite di 4GB per singolo file. Buenas tardes A los que tengan problemas en Mi box S después de la última actualización de sistema y no les reconoce memoria extraíble USB configurada como ampliación de memoria, he conseguido recuperar que el sistema reconozca el USB de la siguiente forma: 1 ir a ajustes / preferencias del dispositivo / opciones para desarrolladores / activar depuración USB / reiniciar dispositivo 2 ir a la misma ruta anterior y desactivar depuración USB. Saldrá aviso emergente en la parte inferior de la pantalla que se ha conectado USB y funcionando.

Spiegazione in inglese ed italiano: Here I show you the solution I have found, for a picture solarization problem that I had using the Xiaomi Mi Box S. I have noticed that the image output from the Mi box was fine, until suddenly the image changed and colors appeared affected by a solarization problem. I could get rid of this issue only unplugging and plugging back the HDMI cable to the TV. The problem affected only the Mi box, not the other devices connected via HDMI. Before starting purchasing amplifiers of the HDMI signal, I tried to make some changes in the MI box system. The solution for me was to switch off both "autoswitch to recommended resolution from tv" and "Colour depth" and to set "Color Space Settings" to RGB, all this options to be found in the Display settings. Moreover, I discovered the same problem on a different tv box with stock Android (not Android tv), setting the resolution to 1920x1080 at 50hz solved the solarization issue. Mi capitava che casualmente l'immagine venisse riprodotta sul tv come in negativo, con i colori distorti (effetto solarizzazione). Scollegando e ricollegando il cavo hdmi della mibox l'immagine tornava normale. Il difetto non si presentava sulle altre periferiche collegate in hdmi al TV (es. Decoder sat, dvd etc.). Alla fine ho risolto modificando tre settaggi nel menu della mi box. É sufficiente aprire le impostazioni, preferenze del dispositivo, display, screen resolution, ed impostare "autoswitch to recommended resolution from tv" su off, color depth settings su off, e color space settings su RGB. Ho poi riscontrato lo stesso problema su una tv box con stock Android (non Android tv), impostando la risoluzione a 1920x1080 a 50hz l'effetto solarizzazione é sparito.
