Learn how to disassemble your Ronstan Orbit Winch™! No tools are required to disassemble, service, or reassemble your Orbit Winch™. To remove the drum, pull back the spring-loaded release latch and a slight anti-clockwise rotation will allow the self-tailing arm to be lifted from the winch. From there, the drum can be removed from the winch centre stem. When completing reassembly in reverse order, an audible click confirms positive engagement between the self-tailing arm and bayonet notches on the centre stem. I went on the Warn/ARB trail ride in Moab on the cliffhanger trail. The group was really really really big so I decided to pull over and work on my jeep instead. We put a new motor and control box on an old Bellevue/Warn winch. Now it works great. The new motor is from Brennan’s garage and the winch controller is from Warn.
